Our History

Rockland County Pride Center began as VCS Gay Pride Rockland, part of VCS Inc.’s initiative to implement social justice, anti-oppression programming throughout Rockland County. Rockland County Pride Center became its own independent organization in July 2016, and continues to partner with VCS to provide a critical analysis of the social and political conditions relating to domestic violence, racism, sexism, heterosexism, bias-related incidents and other issues of oppression. Other key community partners include CANDLE’s Youth Pride Rockland program and the Center for Safety & Change.

Being around my community without fear of judgement is important to me

Visibility is essential. Invisibility is not an answer; it costs too much.

The Pride Center gives our community a safe space – a place to be unapologetically ourselves, a place to go when we need a home away from home.
