The New York Queer Short Film Festival, headed by filmmakers Rob Maitner and Guy Olivieri, is set to launch in New York City in 2019. As a special precursor to the inaugural festival, NYQSFF will present a night of the best queer short films of recent years as a benefit for Rockland County Pride.
The ticket price ($10) includes 90 minutes of films, followed by a Q&A with several of the filmmakers. Each ticket helps raise money for the extraordinary projects run by Rockland County Pride.
The NYQSFF is dedicated to giving a platform for the telling of queer stories from around the world. This year’s selections will celebrate the broad spectrum of the queer experience, in the US and around the world.
Among the films are a comedy about a first-time lesbian experience in New York City, a Dutch farce about two men and an unorthodox adoption, and a Chinese film about gender so controversial, the producers have been forbidden from showing it in their county.
You’ll see comedies, dramas, and even a musical – all about the lives of LGBTQ people from all walks of life. It’ll be entertaining, informative, and uplifting.
