We will be showing a collection of four short documentaries called Expanding Gender: Youth Out Front. This collection explores the lives of trans, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and gender creative children and youth. From a skirt wearing young hockey player, to a touching mentorship between a gender creative youth and their dance teacher, to a trans woman of color finding support in the face of rejection by her family and church, to young trans men of color who negotiate “passing,” this collection captures the struggles and joys of gender expansive young people.

The Trans Joy Film Series will run through the end of 2019, and features films that center the joy and power of transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming people. These films counter Hollywood and mainstream media portrayals of transgender and non-binary people as tragic, deceptive, and marginalized.
