Pride Center Deputy Director, Diana Wilkins, and I met with the Program Coordinator at the Rockland County Health Department, Scott Sullum, The Pride Center is thrilled to be collaborating with the Rockland County Department of Health to bring additional HIV testing, counseling, and referrals to our location. Confidential services will be available in English, Spanish, and Creole, free of charge. This service is part of Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s three-point plan to Ending the Epidemic in New York State. The goal is to reduce the number of new HIV infections to just 750 [from an estimated 3,000] by the end of 2020 and achieve the first ever decrease in HIV prevalence in New York State. The Three-point Plan:
I.
Identifies persons with HIV who remain undiagnosed and links them to health care.
II.  Links and retains persons diagnosed with HIV in health care to maximize virus suppression, so they remain healthy and prevent further transmission.
III.  Facilitates access to Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) for persons who engage in high-risk behaviors to keep them HIV negative.
For more information on free HIV testing, support, and other referrals, please contact us.
