The LINK has been creating space for Lesbian identified women in Rockland County for over 40 years. This award recognizes their commitment and endurance in the fight against social stigma and for a world where Lesbian women can be their complete selves.
Hal Parker is a long-standing supporter of LGBTQ+ community-building in Rockland. From his support of VCS’s Gay Pride Rockland as the owner of The Corner Frame Shop, to founding the annual Juried Art Exhibit and Sale in 2001, Hal is a vital figure in Rockland LGBTQ+ history.
Founded in 1970, VCS creates hope and promotes social justice through mental health counseling and community change projects. A unique blend of professional staff, trained volunteers, and diverse community partners, VCS was on the forefront of promoting LGBTQ+ rights as the founding home of Gay Pride Rockland, the precursor to today’s Rockland County Pride Center.
